Tso
The unpaved road, passes, then a range of water.
Tso : this means the water, the lake.
A young nun, Tshomo, yelled at her yak with the traditional « Ri ! Ri ! » to prevent it from entering into the water. They both perrished drowned.
A name remained : Tshomo Ri Ri Tso, shortened to Tsomorri Tso.
On the banks, stands Korzok, the highest village in Ladakh (4600m for those interested)
The nomads, the Rupshupa, gathered at the monastery.
The kids play around while adults pray inside.
The sun starts to go down. No time to lose to get back to the tents.
Made of black yak wool, they are pinched close to the herds, higher in the mountain.
Tso Kar, the white lake, is wilder.
It is getting dry in summer, the earth cracks and salt crystals forms on the banks.
This is the kingdom of birds and Kiangs, the wild donkeys.
The villages are deserted. They are only wintering quarters for nomads.
It becomes rather harsh around here. Some cattle, yaks and pashmina goats, die from cold each year.
The water in the bucket is frozen and first snowflakes are here...
